Pool Time

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Well, we finally got another hot day, and we finally got our pool passes. I was a little skeptical at first, because I wasn’t sure how much the girls would like it, but as it turns out, they are little animals in the water. Hadley is fearless, and that worries me a bit. Zoey Belle was skeptical at first, but once she got used to the water, she was all over the place. It is going to keep me busy to chase after them all summer in the water.

The only problem we had was when it was time to go. Hadley was heartbroken. Even though we assured her we would be back a lot this summer, it did not comfort her.

This morning we woke up and went to watch Eric play soccer. The kids played and I walked laps. We had a good time, and came home exhausted. We are having two families over tonight to BBQ and play some games, so hopefully the kids will rest up so we can have lots of fun. We might squeeze another trip to the pool in there too.

Summer Fun

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

This week has buzzed right past us and we have been having fun. On Monday we went to a friend’s house to have a BBQ and make s’mores. It was tons of fun and Hadley even learned how to throw a frisbee.

Midweek the weather got colder so we were stuck in doors again. It was time to bring out all of my old barbie dolls. Hadley had a lot of fun playing with them and Zoey joined in too. On Wednesday Hadley and I went to a movie at the theater. We saw Tale of Despereaux and it was really fun. She got a lot of snacks and treats and was very well behaved.

Now we are just waiting for a hot day so we can head out to the pool!

Weekend

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Saturday morning we got up and got ready for the girls to go to grandma and papa’s house for the weekend. Eric and I had a Christmas gift to stay in a hotel for a night while the girls stayed with the grandparents and Eric and I decided that this was the weekend to cash in on that gift.

We knew it was going to be a great weekend for the girls when we pulled up to the farm and papa showed us two brand new kitties. The girls fell in love immediately and cuddled and loved the new kittens. Zoey Belle doesn’t understand “gentle” yet, so we didn’t let her play with them too much.

Just as it was time for Eric and I to leave, the girls went on their dune buggy ride with papa Mark. It was Zoey’s first time riding along, but we hear it went well. They saw a lot of animals and had a fantastic weekend. The only problem came when Hadley didn’t want to come home. She likes to be out on the farm and wanted to go back instead of going to our boring old house. I can’t say I blame her.

Eric and I squeezed as much out of one weekend as possible. We went to dinner for Glenn’s birthday, went shopping, mini golfing, got ice cream and saw a movie. We made every minute count. We were only gone for one night, but Eric and I agreed that it felt like we had been gone for a week. It feels good to be home.

What a crack up

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Hadley is quick on her feet, that is for sure. Today was destined to be a long day because Eric left around 4 am for state track and wasn’t going to get home until after 8pm. The girls and I got up and put our sunscreen on first thing and headed outside. We spent most of the day going in and out and just relaxing/playing in general.

Then the series of fits started. Hadley was just proving to have a difficult time dealing with much of anything and my patience was wearing thin. At one point, I just stopped and closed my eyes and started to take some deep breaths because I really thought I was on the brink of losing it. At that moment, Hadley, with wide eyes looked up at me and said, “you are losing the patience mama.”

I immediately started to laugh and just couldn’t stop. That kid is too funny.

Finally it was super time and Hadley insisted that she was not hungry. Both kids were tired and crabby and it was way too early to put them to bed, so I loaded them up in the car. Hadley fell asleep almost right away and Zoey just started to screech loudly. I couldn’t tell if she was happy or angry, but I thought she sounded a bit irritated. So, I went through a Wendy’s drive thru and got some hamburgers and Zoey and I ate and drove around while Hadley slept. It was the moment of peace I was really needing today, and I was willing to go to any length to get it.

The girls happily went to bed early and I was super tired too. Thankfully Eric got home safe, and I believe he is more exhausted than any of us. We have really fun plans for the weekend, and hopefully will have some pictures to show for it on Monday!

Softball

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Yesterday was just as hot as the day before, so we took advantage of the early morning shade and played outside on the swing set. Zoey only lasted about an hour before it was time for her nap and Hadley and I continued to play outside until lunch. We ate a nice little picnic lunch before heading inside for a break.

The afternoon was uneventful, but the girls did go with me to pick up the food we ordered from the co-op and nearly got blown away in the wind. Hadley clung to my leg and helped anchor me down so none of us would get swept away.

Eric had two softball games in the evening so we went to the first one and watched most of it. Then Hadley and Zoey got restless and we headed over to the park for the girls to play. They had a ton of fun and really didn’t want to go home.

This morning we headed straight back out to the park as soon as breakfast was over. We met up with the Schwarz kids an had a really fun morning. On our way home, we stopped by the local coffee shop and I got the girls’ smoothies. Zoey dumped hers all over herself and started to suck on things that had smoothie on it. We swung by Eric’s work to say hello and headed home to get lunch started.

So far the summer is shaping up to be pretty fun. I have a feeling though we will be going through a lot of sunscreen.

And on a side note, I would add super cute pictures of the kids to the page, but I have to resize them since they are too big, and that is not something I know how to do. Sorry. Eric did add some pictures though to the picture page so you could check there too!

Sicko’s

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Well, it has been our turn again to take some sicknesses. I was violently ill at the end of last week, and today Zoey Belle woke up and her eyes were all gooed over. I took her in and it is pink eye. Lovely. Of course she is a total trooper and doesn’t really seem to notice anything wrong. She also is getting her second tooth in and she just looks so cute with her two bottom teeth.

Zoey is also as adventurous as ever. She wrestled Dignan (the mean cat) to the ground today and was attempting to cuddle him, but he clawed his way out (literally) and her poor back was bleeding. She is such a cuddle bug and will stop playing just to come over and cuddle anyone who might be around.

Hadley is as sassy as ever, but is actually doing better with following instructions.

Summer officially hit us today, it was about a billion degrees outside and the girls enjoyed the day outside. Hadley even got to go to the park with Jenna and the kids. We are very excited for the pool to open so we will be hanging out there when we get our passes.
