Sick…again

November 1st, 2009

So it appears that the H1N1 virus is a sneaky little devil.  Zoey Belle woke up on Thursday night and appeared to have a fever, however, our thermometer thought different.  The next day she was fine and nothing was wrong at all.  Then Friday night again, she woke up in the middle of the night and her skin was burning hot.  So, I didn’t try to rely on the thermometer, and just gave her some tylenol and let her sleep in bed with Eric and I.  This roughly translates into a night of me hanging off the bed while she and Eric slept.  Saturday morning came and Zoey Belle was not looking good, or sounding good.  She was acting just as crazy as ever though, so it didn’t appear to affect her too much.  I decided to get her into the clinic though since she developed a nasty cough.  I tried again to take her temp, and this time it said she did have a high fever.  So, at the doctor she was checked out and diagnosed as having H1N1.  Poor little girl.  She is on all kinds of meds to help knock it out of her system sooner and to help her sleep better and bring down her fever.  Night times are rough.  She is really not sleeping, and then is very crabby the next day.  Other than that, she seems normal.  We did keep her quarentined to the house and luckily today the weather is gorgeous outside, so we took advantage of that too.

Hadley and I got a lot of errands done this morning, since I didn’t feel comfortable bringing her to church, just in case she is carrying the bug.  She helped me take our recycling to the recycle center, drop some stuff off at a friends, go to the bank, to Walmart and lastly, we stopped at Starbucks for a little mommy and Hadley time.

We also spent the past two days turning one of the rooms in the basement into a playroom for the girls.  We inherited a lot of stuff when our friend moved out and used some of it to create a cozy little area for the girls to put their toys.  We also cleaned out the basement’s main room to make room for the girls’ bikes and outside toys.  That way, when the winter is too cold to go outside, we can go downstairs and burn off some energy.

Hadley picked out a chocolate fudge cake to make this evening, so we are off to bake that.  So far our quarantine hasn’t been too bad.  I am hoping the weather holds up for us and maybe we won’t be stuck inside for most of it.
