Our full days

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Our week has been super busy and filled with fun activities. On Wednesday I babysat for a 6 month old little boy for most of the day. We headed to the park in the morning and the girls had fun playing. Hadley even rode her bike the whole way there! She is really getting good! In the afternoon we added Olivia into the mix (also 6 months old). Olivia, of course, was a piece of cake. She was hungry, and then tired and pretty much slept the whole time. Which was a blessing, because the little boy was having a rough day. I was fortunate enough to have Hadley go play with her friend Emma for the afternoon, so once I had Zoey down for her nap and Olivia napping, I only had to cuddle the other little one.

I wasn’t able to get anything done because once he was picked up by his mom, Zoey Belle had a doctor’s appointment. Turns out little miss has a sinus infection. She deals with it like a champ though.

As soon as we got home we went to eat and then jumped on our bikes to ride to church. Eric and I have been teaching the two year old class and it has been an experience. Once classes were over we hopped back on our bikes and headed home.

On Thursday our day was shaping up to look just like Wednesday. I was babysitting again and we headed straight to the park. Hadley again, rode her bike, and we met up with Eric for lunch. After lunch, we got home and had nap time and quiet time for Hadley. I was able to get the house cleaned and some laundry done and once I was done babysitting, we hopped on the bike and rode to Emma’s house. Emma’s mom and I have been accountability partners for exercising and the kids get to play everyday. It was not a great idea to ride uphill to Emma’s while carrying nearly 100 lbs behind me in the trailer prior to working out, but none the less, I arrived at our destination in one piece.

After our work out, we biked to the farmers market, then biked to the pool for a swim. Zoey is getting used to her life jacket that Nana sent her. She doesn’t have confidence in it yet so she is a bit clingy. Hadley practiced going under water with me. She freaks out a bit, but since she needs to learn, I went under with her anyway. Hadley wants to be able to go tubing faster this summer and until she can learn to go under and come up without panicking it just won’t happen. She wasn’t a big fan of going under with me, but she pushed through and practiced anyway. She also was very proud of herself for doing so well.

After riding home on our bikes, we got the girls ready for bed. I was pretty tired too after all the biking, walking and just general activity of the two days.

We are looking forward to seeing Papa and Grandma this weekend and hopefully going boating on Sunday!

Vacation, all I ever wanted…

The past week Hadley has displayed some behaviors that are reminiscent of her two year old days. I won’t go into detail, mainly because I don’t want to relive it, but it has just not been pretty. Eric and I have put her on lock down mode and we are starting some rewards based “scheduling” with her so that we can get some things back on track. So far, so good. Today we had an appointment and she did great. She was immediately rewarded with stickers, praise and one on one time with mommy. We really wanted to lay it on thick these first couple days just so she will see how much fun she can have when she is good. We must have had a lot of fun because today, she conked out around 4:15pm. Getting her to bed tonight is probably going to be rough, but I don’t care. She needed the sleep, and I have needed the break.

And, like always, anytime the girls are going to see Grandma and Papa, one of them gets some sort of sickness. Zoey Belle is coughing away. Three little babies from church have had RSV and have been hospitalized for it, so she is going in tomorrow morning to get it all checked out. I think she is probably fine, but just in case, we are going to get it checked. The starts aligned for us because usually we cannot get in to see our doctor for weeks and once you are there you wait for an average of an hour because she is ALWAYS running behind. Tomorrow though, she had numerous appointments available (that NEVER happens!!!) and one happened to be the first appointment of the day!!!!! Can you tell I am excited about this? It is the price we pay to have good health care in small town USA where there is an overabundance of incompetent doctors. (You know the ones that throw prescriptions at you for all the symptoms instead of getting down to the problem? Yah, I don’t love them.)

On a side note, I bought the girls the most adorable Easter dresses at Target. It was too much to bear and I could not walk away from them. Hadley wanted to wear hers all day and I kept telling her no because I want to get some cute pictures first before they are destroyed.

Eric and I are on the verge of going crazy because we are so excited about our upcoming vacation and time is just creeping by. I am in the middle of packing up everything and hoping to get the house cleaned before we leave so our house sitter isn’t totally grossed out by us. I will try to update the blog again before we leave so no one is terribly worried about our little Zoey Belle. She is a trooper.
